The Extremists

first a bit of

If you’ve ever been deceived into believing a lie – then you have experienced what motivates the religious extremists.  They have been taught and believe it’s their duty to kill Christians and Jews; it’s their religious duty.

Many of these young men and some women are pulled into this lie in their early years, even as children, because of deep religious beliefs and teachings.  Others succumb to this way of thinking and acting because it fills a deep void in their lives. Commitment to a radical mindset comes at a time when they are seeking purpose, significance, money or friends.

Others join because they aren’t left many options. It’s either be part of the winning side, or face death.

Whatever the motivation, they are in need of the truth about the Savior who can fill any void – who paid for all their sins on the cross.

Acts 4.13

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

Exodus 23.27

“I will send my terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation you encounter. I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run…”

Judges 7.19-22

Gideon and the hundred men with him reached the edge of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, just after they had changed the guard. They blew their trumpets and broke the jars that were in their hands. The three companies blew the trumpets and smashed the jars. Grasping the torches in their left hands and holding in their right hands the trumpets they were to blow, they shouted, “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!” While each man held his position around the camp, all the Midianites ran, crying out as they fled.

When the three hundred trumpets sounded, the Lord caused the men throughout the camp to turn on each other with their swords. The army fled to Beth Shittah toward Zererah as far as the border of Abel Meholah near Tabbath.

• Lord, draw “extremists” to yourself in such a way that their walk with Jesus turns the world upside down because of their radical obedience to yourself.

• Jesus, will you relentlessly pursue them with a display of your holiness, your character, and your love for each and every one of them.  May they experience restlessness and be personally disrupted, until they turn in desperation to your cleansing and forgiveness.

• We ask that you cause great confusion among extremist leaders as they plan and we ask you to destroy the economic engines that keep them funded.
