For the Church to see the Kairos in the Chaos

first a bit of

We often see,

but do not perceive what is significant.

We touch,

but don’t feel the textural differences.

We hear sounds,

but often lock onto what is familiar – not what is dissonant.

The increasing chaos, violence, wars, and injustice in the Middle East is different in proportion, complexity, and intensity than most conflicts.  It is destabilizing, not a neighborhood, city, or even country, but an entire region.

It is on the global stage and people in the region are watching, paying very close attention, and awaiting the outcome.

Angelina Jolie is paying attention. And she is acting on the information and present situation. Read more.

Is the church?

Are we?

God is raising His voice to us – are we paying close attention?  God desires his Kingdom to come among the Syrians – His will to be done among the them, just like it is, and is done in heaven.

We must hear the dissonance and step into the gap. The moment has come in the midst of this “chaos” for the global church to respond quickly, boldly and significantly.

1 Samuel 3.10

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

Matthew 24.14

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Matthew 6.9-13

“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’

Pray for His global church to pay attention to the Kairos in the Chaos

• Lord, ignite your church – alive to your Spirit, consumed by love for you & paying close attention.  Help us quickly act as you give understanding that the “Kairos” moment of opportunity is in the midst of the Syrian chaos.

• Lord, help us to respond like Samuel: Speak Lord, for we your servants are listening.  We want to understand what you have in your heart for these people in the midst of the chaos.

• We invite you to show each of us specific ways to respond.  We ask that you ignite your church to boldly & quickly respond by any means possible to pray for, love & serve the displaced, and proclaim Christ crucified, buried, and raised again out of love for them.  May we be light in the darkness; salt, leaven, letters and fragrance in the midst of the violence.
