22 May Uncertain Future
first a bit of
We often take the future for granted. Our hopes, dreams, celebrations, times of rest, etc, are all tied to assumptions about our future. But what happens when that foundation of life suddenly becomes unclear? So much can change month-by-month, day-by-day, hour-by-hour because the futures of refugees are subject to the whims of politicians, border guards, and everyday citizens who decide to welcome or reject. The luxuries that come with having a reliable future are not afforded to refugees. The only certainty a refugee has is the uncertainty of his or her future–but that isn’t God’s perspective.
“It is not clear, what is our future? What are our dreams anymore? My only hope is for the next generation. I hope and pray my country is good in the future.” –Afghan young man in German refugee camp
“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Pray that while refugees wait to learn what their futures will hold, that they don’t lose their feeling of purpose. Pray that they find hope and purpose for their future. Pray that God would speak into and fulfill their desire for purpose.
Thank you for your faithful prayers!
